Genesis Release Notes

πŸš€ Genesis v1.1.3 is now live!

πŸ“… Released: 06.08.2026

This release makes Genesis easier to keep up to date, gives your actor profiles a home that spans every project, and takes a big bite out of the disk space and export time your projects need.

This release adds support for Ubuntu 24.04. Going forward, all future releases will be supported on Ubuntu 24.04 only. If you are currently running an earlier Ubuntu version, please plan to upgrade to 24.04 to continue receiving updates and support.  UbuntuUpgrade Ubuntu Desktop | Ubuntu

Genesis Post:

✨ What's New

  • Update Genesis from inside the app
    • Genesis now tells you when a new version is available and installs it for you. You'll see what's changed before you commit, and a progress bar while it installs - no more terminal commands. Updates are fetched after rebooting, or after running sudo apt update
  • Actor profiles now work across every project and support both m1 and m2
    • Profiles are stored once on your machine and available in every project, so you only capture an actor once. Each profile now covers both skeleton versions, so the same profile works with m1 and m2 .
    • Actor profile captures are now their own take type, with a searchable actor dropdown, and they no longer generate animation outputs you don't need.
    • Profile generation now requires a processed checkerboard extrinsic calibration, so profiles are always built on a solid calibration.
    • Existing actor profiles will need to be regenerated to support m2.
    • The tracks specific output files now have the name of the actor profile which was applied to the track.
  • Projects take up far less disk space
    • Choose whether to link or copy videos when importing - linking leaves footage where it is instead of duplicating it into the project. The new Import split button lets you pick, and a Project Videos view shows the link status of everything in your project.
    • Videos are also linked into each run folder rather than copied, so processing no longer duplicates your footage a second time.
  • Exports are 3–4Γ— faster, and output files are much smaller
    • FBX and glTF exports have been substantially sped up, especially on multi-actor takes. Background videos are no longer baked into every actor's scene file, cutting several GB off larger projects.
    • Takes at any frame rate are now supported.
  • Better intrinsic calibration feedback
    • Calibration visualisations are now generated and saved for every run, so you can always check coverage and quality afterwards.
  • Camera Manager is protected during processing
    • Camera settings are locked while takes are queued or processing, so a mid-run change can't invalidate your results.

πŸ›  Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the issue with GLB output files not honoring the FPS rate of the input videos.
  • Output sync with video in viewport

Genesis Live:

✨ What's New

  • Improved model for Performance mocap mode
    • The model now tracks more keypoints, including fingers
  • Improved video stream performance in intrinsics and extrinsics mode
    • Video streams are now not interrupted while detections happen in the background.
  • Pre-Viz is now called Mocap
    • The mode has been renamed throughout the app, and its panel has moved to the right of the intrinsic and extrinsic panels to match the order you work in.
  • Clearer calibration capture
    • Frames are now highlighted by detection state as you capture, so you can see at a glance which cameras are seeing the board, and duplicate or miscounted detections no longer inflate your capture count.
  • Calibrated tracking area
    • The option to restrict tracking to your calibrated space is available again.
  • Tidier interface
    • Reorganised tracking settings, renamed Stream Server labels, and a refresh button for output stream connections.
    • Camera tiles no longer show the frame number or a "Cam" prefix, and the app header has been cleaned up.
  • No surprises during model generation
    • Modes are now blocked while models are being checked or generated, with a tooltip explaining why - instead of appearing available and then failing.

πŸ›  Bug Fixes

  • The active area is now shown reliably, with correctly positioned camera labels and correctly sized placeholders for cameras with no feed.
  • The model generation progress bar no longer exceeds 100% when new models are added.

Peel Capture:

πŸ›  Bug Fixes

  • No Move AI-side fixes in this release.

πŸš€ Genesis v1.1.1 is now live!

πŸ“… Released: 16.07.2026

Genesis Live

πŸš€ Introducing Genesis Live

Genesis Live is the evolution of Move Live, now supporting Z-Cams. It brings real-time intrinsic and extrinsic calibration and live pre-viz, while cameras record footage on-device in parallel. With this release, the Genesis pipeline is complete: full camera control in Peel Capture, real-time feedback and pre-viz in Genesis Live, and high-quality post-processing in Genesis Post.

✨ What's New

  • Z-Cam Support
    • Z-Cam cameras now achieve real-time feedback alongside on-board recording.
  • Real-Time Calibration
    • Redesigned intrinsic and extrinsic calibration with live checkerboard tracking and a keypoint-coverage overlay. Capturing intrinsics at one resolution automatically generates downsampled variants (4K, FHD, HD) per camera, ready to switch between later from the Camera Manager without recapturing.
    • Calibration generated in Genesis Live shares the same file format as Genesis Post, so a calibration can be exported straight into Genesis Post for your post-processing.
  • Camera Manager
    • A new camera manager, similar to the one in Genesis Post, for managing intrinsics and extrinsics per camera.
  • Tracking Settings
    • Performance vs Quality: Switch between a faster performance pose model and the higher-quality model depending on your needs.
    • Filtering: Adjust filtering type and strength for body & hand tracking from 0 (least filtering, lowest latency) to 5 (maximum filtering, smoothest but higher latency).
      • Polynomial filtering is a static, window-based curve fit, while One Euro is a dynamic filter that adjusts itself to motion speed frame by frame. One Euro tends to feel more responsive during fast movement while still being smooth when the subject is still, whereas polynomial filtering trades that adaptivity for simplicity and predictable behaviour.
    • Finger Tracking: Toggle finger tracking on or off.
    • Track Deletion: Configure when an actor's track is automatically removed, options include after losing sight of the actor, after they leave the tracking area, and a configurable timeout once the removal criteria is met.
  • New Logo
    • Genesis Live has a black app logo, making it easy to tell apart from the white Genesis Post logo at a glance.

πŸ›  Bug Fixes

  • None

Peel Capture:

✨ What's New

  • Camera Modes
    • Peel Capture now supports two modes, toggled from the main UI. Recording Mode streams and records simultaneously, writing footage on-device for later use in Genesis Post. Streaming Mode streams only, with nothing written to device storage, built for real-time calibration and pre-viz monitoring in Genesis Live.
  • Settings Presets
    • Saved configurations of camera settings (fps, codec, resolution, bitrate, etc.) tied to each mode, so switching modes automatically pushes the right settings to every camera. Presets can be renamed, created, imported, saved and deleted, and Peel Capture flags any camera whose actual settings drift from the assigned preset, with one-click apply to fix mismatches.
  • Device naming
    • To ensure consistency throughout the pipeline, camera names are now automatically retrieved from the on-board setting of the camera, which can be configured via the z-cam browser.
  • Project structure
    • Videos can now be saved in folders organised by Shot rather than device, making for more granular import into Genesis Live

πŸ›  Bug Fixes

  • Spaces in shot names are now handled gracefully
  • Camera name prefixes are applied correctly to file naming during harvests

Genesis Post:

✨ What's New

  • Video Gallery
    • Filter & group your videos by shot name or camera from new dropdowns. The gallery header now stays visible as you scroll.
    • Warning is now presented if you try to drag & drop videos with different shot names into the same take
  • Clearer Processing Progress
    • During a run, the progress tooltip now shows which phase you're in - Preparing, Processing or Exporting, instead of just a percentage.
  • Takes Open Automatically
    • Takes you create manually now open and scroll into view straight away, so they're no longer lost in a long take list.
  • Camera Manager
    • The Resolution column now shows each camera's actual video resolution, making it easier to spot when a camera's intrinsics don't match its footage.
  • Import Help
    • When a take is flagged as invalid during import, a help icon now links straight to documentation explaining why.
  • m3 Beta Programme
    • Early access to m3, our highest-quality model yet, enabled by PixelLink synchronisation from Z-Cam cameras and checkerboard extrinsic calibration. Currently in beta for early access. Reach out to your Move AI contact to learn more.

πŸš€ Genesis v1.0.21 is now live!

πŸ“… Released: 27.05.2026 We’ve just rolled out a new update to Genesis, packed with useful improvements to help you work more smoothly and efficiently.

✨ What’s New

  • Calibration Source Identification in Camera Manager
    • The Camera Manager table now shows where each camera's calibration data came from:
      • Intrinsics column: displays the take name (if calibrated from a project take), the camera profile name (if from a preset), or the imported folder name.
      • Extrinsics column: displays the take name (if from an extrinsic take) or the imported folder name. Previously this column showed only a βœ“ or β€”.
      • Tooltips on both columns show the full source name when truncated. On project load, a backfill pass automatically reconstructs provenance for existing calibrations that predate this feature.
  • Take Name Prefixed on Output Files
    • All output files produced by a take are now prefixed with the take name. For example, a take named My_Take produces files like My_Take_track00_moveai.glb and My_Take_track00_motion_data.json. Previously all takes produced identically-named files, making project-level file management difficult.
    • Once a take has been run for the first time, its name is locked and cannot be edited. This prevents the output file prefix from diverging from the existing run results. The UI reflects the locked state inline.
  • Per-Take Output Format Selection
    • A new Output Formats panel appears in the Take Settings view, letting users enable or disable optional output formats on a per-take basis. FBX, GLB, and Blender are always included. Optional formats are: USD (USDC + USDZ), Render Video, BVH, C3D, and Motion Data. Per-take overrides fall back to the global default settings if not explicitly set.
  • Default Output Formats in Global Settings
    • The Settings dialog now includes a Default Output Formats section with checkboxes for each optional format. These defaults apply to all new takes and are persisted globally across projects. Existing takes that have a per-take override are unaffected.
  • Default Mocap Model in Global Settings
    • A new Default Mocap Model dropdown in the Settings dialog (m1 or m2) controls which model is pre-selected when new action takes are created. Previously new takes always defaulted to M1.
  • Clear Cache (Delete Old Run Folders)
    • A Clear Cache option in the Help menu lets users reclaim disk space by deleting all previous run folders across all takes in the active project, keeping only the most recent run per take. A confirmation dialog shows the total size to be freed before deletion proceeds.
  • ZCam Laowa 10mm Lens Profiles
    • Two new built-in camera profiles are now available in the Camera Manager profile selector:
      • ZCam-Laowa-10mm-FHD
      • ZCam-Laowa-10mm-4K

πŸ›  Bug Fixes

  • Lost extrinsic calibration status
    • Fixed the broken state where the project loses awareness of the extrinsic calibration that had been processed.
  • Intrinsics Progress Bar Backtracks from 50% to 10%
    • Fixed a bug where the calibration progress bar would jump forward to 50%, then backtrack to 10% before continuing.
  • End Time Could Exceed Shortest Video Duration
    • In takes where cameras have different video lengths, the take end time was previously capped to the longest video. This allowed users to set an end time beyond what the shortest camera could provide, causing downstream failures. The end time is now capped to the duration of the shortest video in the take.
