Recording an Actor Profile

This feature allows you to create a dedicated skeleton profile for each actor, eliminating the need for the system to estimate bone lengths during every animation. By capturing a profile in ideal conditions, you minimize inconsistencies caused by occlusion, particularly during high-action takes.

Once recorded, these profiles can be applied to any session featuring that actor, whether captured before, during, or after the main production.

Recording an actor profile

  1. Configure your cameras according to your standard workflow.

  2. Record a standard calibration sequence

  3. Record an actor profile recording as instructed below:

    1. Stand in the centre of the capture area.

    2. Start recording on the cameras.

    3. Stand still in a T pose for 2 seconds before starting the actor profile sequence.

Note: If you are not using a synchronised camera such as a Z Cam, you will need to clap three times above your head before performing the T-pose. This will generate a distinct audio peak, which can then be used as synchronisation point.

    4. The movement sequence is simple, it requires the actor to move all of the joints in their body. This provides the system a greater understanding of your bone lengths. Watch the video tutorial shown below:

Next Step: After capturing your actor profile, you must process the data in Genesis to finalize the calibration. For detailed instructions, refer to the Processing Actor Profiles document.
