Performance Considerations

Clothing

Clothing choice plays a key role in the quality of your motion capture. Please ensure your actors are dressed appropriately to help the system accurately track their keypoints and maintain data quality.

Clothing Style

Avoid wearing baggy or loose clothes, as this will make your body shape deceiving for the system.

Avoid wearing long sleeves that cover the wrist. The system needs to see your wrists in order to track your hand optimally.

Clothing Colour

To ensure high-fidelity motion extraction, it is essential to choose clothing that provides a strong contrast against your background.

Colour Contrast: Avoid clothing that matches the environment (e.g., do not wear white in a room with white walls).

Internal Contrast: We recommend wearing a different colored top and bottom (such as a red shirt with blue trousers). This helps the system clearly distinguish between different body segments.

Dark Colours: Avoid black clothing whenever possible. Black absorbs light and obscures surface texture, making it difficult for the system to resolve fine body details.

Footwear

Ensure the performer’s footwear matches the heel height of your digital rig. For example, if the rig uses high heels, the performer must wear identical heels to ensure natural motion transfer.

As with clothing, footwear should be light in colour to provide a clear contrast against the floor. This visibility is essential for the system to accurately detect ground contact, which improves foot-planting and minimises foot-sliding in the output data.
